VMware announces India-Born Cloud Executive as CEO

Product-based software company VMware has announced Rangarajan (Raghu) Raghuram as Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors, starting from June 1, 2021.

  • VMware newly appointed CEO, Raghu Raghuram is born in India and currently VMware’s chief operating officer(COO) and in charge of products and cloud services
  • Raghuram has been with VMware since 2003 when the company was still a startup. Over the years, VMware has grown into nearly $12 billion.

US-based Software product company VMware has appointed Raghu Raghuram to be its new CEO effective June 1 2021. VMware’sVMware’s previous CEO, Pat Gelsinger, had left VMware and became the Intel CEO in February of 2020.

Since February, current VMware Chief financial officer(CFO) Zane Rowe has been serving as VMware’sVMware’s interim CEO.

Raghuram joined VMware in 2003 when the company was a startup; today, VMware has over $10 Billion in revenue in business.

According to a product based company report, VMware provides cloud computing and virtualization software and services, including the most popular products -hypervisors. VMware is famous for its first type 2 hypervisor, also known as GSX.

VMware is the 1st commercially successful company to virtualize the x86 architecture and virtualization software to improve its IT operations performance. 

According to Fortune, Raghuram has been initiating VMware’s to push selling multiple cloud software. Tech Giants such as IBM, HP, and Oracle are all making this idea of multi-cloud, or hybrid cloud, technology the future of corporate IT.

Michael Dell, who is the chairman of the VMware Board of Directors, said, 

“I am thrilled to have Raghu step into the role of CEO at VMware. Throughout his career, he has led with integrity and conviction, playing an instrumental role in the success of VMware. Raghu is now in a position to architect VMware’s future, helping customers and partners accelerate their digital businesses in this multi-cloud world.”

VMware CEO on Work From Home 

The Post Covid-19 pandemic has opened a door for many Tech companies for Digital transformation and implementing cloud building business. VMware new CEO, Raghuram, expects firms to spend more money on IT software and technology.

Raghu Raghuram has confirmed that the company has plans to ask its employees to continue work from home and working remotely and will not require them to return to physical offices full-time. 

VMware announced Sumit Dhawan as President.

VMware also named Sumit Dhawan to be the company’s president while COO of customer operations Sanjay Poonen will leave the company.

Last year VMware was criticized for VMware India Layoff where Software Product Company fired 200 Indian employees.
