The pandemic era has opened a door to access Indian talent through virtual staffing. It has shown that distance and time cannot stop companies from all over the world to hire talent crossing all the boundaries and limitations.
SME’s (Small and Medium Enterprises) from western countries approach staffing firms in India to hire employees who can work remotely from India on timings suitable to them. And not even a work visa like (H1-B/Work Visa) is required for this hiring.
The firms abroad will ramp up offshore hiring in India with the advantage of ongoing remote working systems.
This trend is a new move in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Industry that had boomed in India a couple of decades ago.
As per Experts of the industry, companies are reaching out to the country’s staffing firms to hire individuals who can work from anywhere in India but on western timings.
Viral Thakkar, a partner at Deloitte, said, “Work from Home has opened up the broader thinking around work from anywhere.”
“Ideally, they would outsource these to call centers or proper BPOs in India. But now they’re saying why to go to those firms if there are credible players whom they can rely upon to staff them,” said Kamal Karanth, co-founder of a staffing firm named Xpheno.
Karanth said many US companies have been calling him to ask for staffing solutions. “It is not just India, but companies are also looking for employees from the Philippines, Pakistan, etc.,” he said.
Digital marketing, content creation, social media management, remote sales and pre-sales staff, and other services are in demand.
Karanth estimated that virtual staffing could become a half-billion-dollar industry in the next 2 or 3 years. Technology companies remain one of the big employers who want coders and engineers for remote working.
As per him, most of these firms’ profile remains in the small and medium-sized industry sectors.
Ashish Singh, the founder of digital marketing agency Bzird Inc, said the virtual staffing business has grown by approximately 300% for him over 2020. Companies running small e-commerce businesses are hiring employees for website management, to work for their blogs, etc.
While firms in India hire the employees, they are accountable directly to the foreign companies for who they’re working.
