PwC India gives a three-day weekend to its employees

Multinational consulting firm PwC India has asked its employees to take a day off on Friday, turning it into a three-day weekend.

PwC India is calling this Friday ‘Pens down Day’; Pen Down is a popular term in Labour unions where employees come to work but do not do any work; however, here, PwC asked employees to take a break from their routine office work.

Earlier, Google announced a company-wide holiday on Friday by giving the employees a break from office work due to coronavirus pandemic burnout.

PwC India communicated on various social media.

“We can’t thank our people enough to raise the bar on delivering value continuously. As a token of our appreciation, we’ve announced a Pens-Down day so our people can unplug, unwind and de-stress in the way they want. It’s a long weekend ahead of us as we get set to key in our Out Of Office messages.”

In an email to its employees, the company said,

“We hope the clear three-day weekend will give you the time to recharge and spend time with your loved ones, on activities you were not able to focus on or simply in whatever way you’d like to unplug.”

Indian IT Companies and Multinational companies are supposed to work 40 hours a week; however, that’s just a myth. In India, many employees work way beyond 40 hours a week, which makes work from home also very exhaustive.
