OLA’s new Global CIO is Rakesh Bhardwaj former Cognizant leader

One of the leading and largest mobility firms, Ola, has announced the appointment of Rakesh Bhardwaj as Global Chief Information Officer. In Ola, Bhardwaj will lead strategic direction on process and technology initiatives. 

  • Bhardwaj will be based out of Bengaluru and report to Ola’s CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal. 
  • He has 28 years of experience and had worked with companies like Microland Ltd, GE Healthcare, GE Capital.
  • Currently, Bhardwaj is SVP and Global CIO at cognizant.

Ola, in a statement, said, “He will be working with business partners to provide strategic direction to the company’s process and technology initiatives, which will cover the broad spectrum of Information Systems, Tools, Security, IT infrastructure & assets across the company.”

Recently, Bhardwaj was SVP and Global Chief Information Officer at Cognizant. He leads the company, ensuring that the organization remains at the forefront of innovation as a technology-powered company and acts as a critical business partner to enable digital capabilities allowing the organization to be more flexible and resilient.

Bhardwaj holds an Engineering and MBA degree. He specializes in organizational change management and is passionate about leadership, learning, and coaching.

In a social media post, Bhardwaj said, “I am thrilled to join Ola, one of the world’s largest mobility platforms, as CIO. It is at this interesting cusp where it is ambitiously moving the world to sustainable mobility through its ride-hailing platform as well as through manufacturing advanced electric vehicles at its Ola Future factory.”

He further said that We at Ola are building the future of urban mobility and consumer interest through our industry-leading products and services.

Founded in 2011 by Bhavish Aggarwal and Ankit Bhati, Ola is India’s largest ride-hailing company, serving in all major cities in India, and Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. It offers mobility solutions by connecting millions of consumers and over 1.5 million driver-partners.
