Infosys and the Indian Government meet to resolve issues in the new I-T Portal.

  • Senior officials of the Finance Ministry will meet with Infosys team members on new IT portal glitches.
  • The meeting is scheduled for June 22, and it will include ICAI, auditors, consultants, and taxpayers.

Senior officials of the Finance Ministry will hold an interactive meeting with Infosys team members. Infosys team members meeting ministry officials are responsible for providing IT back up to the new I-T return filing portal on issues and glitches faced by the taxpayers.

Other stakeholders who will attend the meeting are members of ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accounts of India), auditors, consultants, and taxpayers.

The CBDT circular stated, “Written representations on the problems and difficulties faced in the portal have also been invited from the stakeholders. Infosys team’s representatives will answer the queries, clarify issues and will receive inputs on the working of the portal and solve issues faced by the taxpayers.”

The government launched the new I-T filing portal on June 7, and since then, taxpayers are experiencing numerous technical glitches. Taxpayers and professionals complained that they could not log in or carry out any transaction through the website, like uploading a relevant form and replying to a notice.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman immediately looked into the matter and urged Infosys and Nandan Nilekani to ensure that the website doesn’t ‘let down taxpayers in the quality of service being provided.’

In response to her Tweet, Nandan Nilekani said that he had observed that the portal was having some technical glitches and assured that Infosys was working to resolve them.
The new I-T portal, which seeks to offer an enhanced and intuitive user experience, has been developed by IT giant Infosys.

In 2019, Infosys had grabbed the contract to develop the next-gen income tax filing system to decrease procession time for returns from 63 days to a single day and expedite refunds.
