Bangalore airport, along with Microsoft India, launch a hackathon to develop an app for travellers.

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport) operator, has teamed up with Microsoft India for the ‘BIAL Genie Hackathon’ to create a Microsoft Azure-based software.

Professional developers, data scientists, data engineers, and hackathon enthusiasts were asked to participate in the challenge and create new solutions to improve the end-to-end passenger experience at BLR Airport.

The hackathon, which began on October 27 and will conclude on January 21, 2022, will allow developers to use Microsoft Azure services to improve the passenger experience at all phases of their journey, from planning to boarding to arriving at their destination airport.

Following the hackathon, developers will present their solutions. According to a joint statement released on Wednesday, shortlisted competitors will submit prototypes together with all supporting documents for evaluation by the jury.

Microsoft subject matter experts will provide Azure credits, technical resources, and mentoring sessions to shortlisted companies (SMEs).

The winning teams will be announced on January 24, 2022, with cash prizes of 1.5 lakh and 1 lakh granted to the winner and runner-up, respectively.
